Something Special began with two friends, and a mother’s secret recipe, making antipasto to share with friends and family. It became a savored tradition with many relying on this gourmet treat to be a part of their own family gatherings.Through this close group of friends, ‘mom’s secret’ antipasto became a local favourite at a small deli appropriately named Something Special Deli Foods.
It wasn’t long before the antipasto became so popular that the deli transitioned to a kitchen dedicated to making this antipasto fulltime so that many could enjoy it.
Something Special slowly grew under the strong partnership of three friends. Today Something Special Gourmet Antipasto is enjoyed throughout North America and Asia. And it still feeds the appetite and soul of friends and family getting together for warmth and reunion and great food. Life’s stories are meant to be shared. And recipes, too, pass down through the generations and they too tell their own stories. They become something special.
At Something Special Deli Foods we are committed to providing wholesome premium quality products for you.We use only the freshest vegetables, chopped daily to keep the freshness intact. Our Antipasto and Jellies are produced in small batches.
This maintains the quality and consistency of the vegetables throughout the batch. After a cooling period, all jars are individually inspected and labeled. Though this is a lengthy, involved process, it ensures the high quality product Something Special demands.
As a food processing company, the safety of the products we make is crucial. We operate under a Food Safety Program called HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) which is the highest standard in the food processing industry. HACCP was developed by NASA to ensure all food produced for the astronauts was free of contaminants. The essence of this program is to control or prevent any potential hazards through every step of the production process. Lastly, it is our employees’ continual training in food safety principles and dedication to food safety that has made this program a success at Something Special.
